How do I install Sparky?

Follow these steps to install your Sparky

Before you start
Have your WiFi network password nearby and enable Bluetooth on your smartphone.


Steps to install Sparky

These are the steps to install your Sparky:

  1. Install the Chargee app

  2. Open the Chargee app and create an account

  3. Click the RJ12 cable into the IN port of Sparky

  4. Click Sparky into your smart meter


  5. Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your phone


  6. Connect to a wifi-network

  7. Success!

1. Install the Chargee app on your mobile device

Download the Chargee app from the App Store or Google Play Store. In the app, you can follow all the steps to install Sparky, or read the description below.

2. Open the Chargee app and create an account

Creating an account does not require a password, as you log in with a magic link. After creating your account, you can link Sparky to your smart meter and our app in the app.

3. Click the RJ12 cable into the IN port of Sparky

Sparky has 2 ports: IN and OUT. Make sure you click the supplied RJ12 cable into the IN port of Sparky. Do you have a different type of Sparky? Then the RJ12 cable is already clicked into the correct port.

4. Click Sparky into your smart meter


To get insight into your energy consumption, you need to connect Sparky to the P1 port of your smart meter. We advise to also connect Sparky to the power adapter provided.

5. Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your phone


Bluetooth needs to be enabled to install your Sparky. Here's how to enable Bluetooth on your phone:

  • Go to 'Settings' and tap 'Bluetooth'.


  • Make sure the Bluetooth switch is on

  • After this, open the Chargee app again and connect to your Sparky.

6. Connect to a wifi-network

Choose your wifi network from the list and enter your wifi password. Press 'Connect'. Sparky will now connect to your wifi network.



7. Success!

You will see in the app when the connection is successful. After connecting Sparky, it will take some time before data is retrieved and you can see your live energy usage.
