What is SolarGuard?
Updated over a week ago

Turning on SolarGuard permits Chargee to report an overcurrent in your home (above 253V) to your grid operator.

We measure the voltage per phase via Sparky, our P1 dongle. This way we know whether phases in your home are becoming overstressed.

We would like to test this function together with you. That is why SolarGuard is still in beta and free to use.

Why should I use SolarGuard?

On sunny days, so much generated electricity is fed back to the electricity grid at the same time that the voltage on the grid rises too high. Solar panel inverters are automatically switched off to prevent home equipment from breaking down. This has been defined by the Netherlands Authority for Consumers & Markets (ACM) in the Grid Code.

You may not notice the failure of your solar panels until late, or not at all. With SolarGuard we keep an eye on the (over)voltage for you. We will soon also send you a notification if the voltage in your house rises to 253V.

This is how we help you keep control of your solar power. And we work together with grid operators to provide insight into (structural) outages.
