What will you use my energy data for?

There are various energy data we collect from you to make sure you can be as smart with energy as possible.

Meter number

We use the meter number of your gas/electricity meter to identify you and provide you with our services. Based on meter readings from your smart meter, we provide insight into your energy consumption.

P1 - Live usage

The P1 port is a connection to your smart meter that issues current values from your meter every second. On older meters, this is every 10 seconds. Sparky sends these values from your smart meter to the Chargee app as often as it can. From this information, we extract your consumption and feed-in, among other things. You can see your energy consumption live in the app.

P4 - Historical usage

As a certified service provider at EDSN, we access a network where we request meter readings from grid operators. The process starts once you have permitted Chargee to read your smart meter when creating your account and when you have successfully selected Sparky. This way we can show your historical consumption over the past 13 months. This only applies if you've lived there all this time. The P4 data also helps us to improve the forecast of your consumption, based on your annual consumption.

โ€‹

Requesting P4 data usually takes 2-3 days. In some cases, we may not be able to access the P4 data or the data may not be available at all. We are dependent on the grid operator for the available data.

Forecast

Your energy data is fed into a mathematical model that makes a forecast of your future energy consumption and return.

To forecast your electricity consumption, we use consumption profiles based on a national average. To predict your gas consumption, we use historical data from your smart meter combined with weather data based on the national average.

Energy contract and appliances in your home

If we know what kind of energy contract you have and which appliances you use, we can develop better functionalities for your situation and better recognize your consumption profile.

Read our privacy policy if you want to know more about what personal data we collect, its purpose and basis.
